Dear friends,
An award-winning British children's book author, Elizabeth Laird, has written
a rare book of young adult fiction from a Palestinian viewpoint.
The book, A LITTLE PIECE OF GROUND, tells the moving story of a 12-year old
Palestinian boy, Karim, and his daily life in the occupied West Bank. Karim
plays computer games, fancies girls, looks for a decent football pitch with
his
friends, fights and reconciles, and deals with the ever-present violent
reality
of life under Israeli occupation.
A Little Piece of Ground was published in Britain and Canada but was turned
down by corporate U.S. publishers. Haymarket Books had the courage to
publish
it against all odds.
Please ask for this book at public libraries and bookstores, order it from
amazon, or go to the publisher's website: http://haymarketbooks.org
Suggest this new book to teachers and librarians, or give it as presents to young
adults, and even grown ups.
cheers,
happyman.
Excellent I'll look for it.
It sounds great. I'll have to see if I can find it.
Thanks.
Bob

Thanks for sharing,
Jess.
Another Lebanese writer is Khalil Gibran excuse the spelling if it's wrong smile.Gibran was born in Besharri Lebanon, and moved to the Us,so he should be easy to track down. His writing is achingly beautiful.
Sounds cool, I'll have to look out for it. Lol! These books dealing with social class issues are hard to find today. Only read about five, and by the looks of it, one's not even accurate.
